Frozen Kitten Gets Nursed Back To Health

Cat laying down
A helpless kitten was found in a neighborhood on the outskirts of downtown Denver, Colorado, according to The Denver Channel. The cat was about 3-4 months old, covered in snow and suffering from hypothermia. Brian Hernandez and Marshall Zelinger of The Denver Channel spoke with the good Samaritans who found her.
“A friend of mine called me this morning and she had a cat that she found outside. It was half covered in snow and (she) said it probably wasn’t going to make it,” says Allison Baker, whose friend had first found the kitten.
Worried that the kitten might not make it, Baker laid the kitten on a heating pad and brought her to the Dumb Friends League, an animal rescue organization. After arriving at the shelter, supervisor Morgan Schneider explains, “Her temperature was not even registering on the thermometer, so it was below 90-degrees,” which prompted them to wrap her in a warm blanket known as a “bear hugger” along with little kitten mittens to increase her temperature up to 101.5.
Luckily, they were able to get her temperature up to 102-degrees. After realizing she was a female the veterinary staff named the kitten Elsa, a fitting named based on the popular Walt Disney movie, Frozen. Schneider expressed, “We figured that would be a nice theme being from the Frozen movie, but also since she obviously has a fighting spirit.”
